Bloxwich Pupils competing for Youth Parliament
Eleven young people from Years 8 to 13 have stood as candidates to represent Bloxwich Academy in the Walsall Borough United Kingdom Youth Parliament. The candidates wrote a manifesto statement and produced a short video explaining why the pupil body should vote for them. On Wednesday 18th January 2016 all pupils and students experienced a polling day and had the opportunity to place their important vote into the ballot box.
The two successful candidates were Harleigh Eggleton 12B1 and Jamie Smith 10W1. They will now attend a workshop with the local authority youth work team on the 21st January along with other potential candidates throughout Walsall. Campaigning will soon take place, and votes will be cast throughout the first two weeks of February. There will then be two members and two deputy members elected to represent Walsall in the UK Youth Parliament. Good luck to both Harleigh and Jamie with their blossoming political careers.
