Apprenticeship Session – Midland Metro Alliance

Rose from the Midland Metro Alliance ran a session on apprenticeships. In this session, pupils learnt about different career apprenticeships and how to apply for them. They also learnt about employability skills and did a fun activity on effective communication. The pupils absolutely loved the session and many are now more interested in a STEM related career.

Performing Arts Showcase

On Thursday 28th November all the schools from across Matrix Academy Trust came together to celebrate the Performing Arts. It was a spectacular display of talent, showcasing their skills in dance, drama, and music. This event was a celebration of creativity, hard work, and the vibrant spirit of pupils who have worked hard over the past few months to showcase their performances.

This event emphasised the importance of the performing arts in shaping well-rounded individuals. The confidence, discipline, and teamwork required in these artistic disciplines provide invaluable life skills that extend far beyond the stage.

The success of this event is a testament to the thriving performing arts community within our Trust schools. It’s clear that the future of dance, drama, and music is in good hands. With such incredible talent on display, it’s exciting to think about the future performances and productions that will emerge from these talented young artists.

Thank you to everyone for their involvement with the event.

Virtual Decisions by West Midlands Police

Year 8 pupils at Bloxwich Academy are working with West Midlands Police and Virtual Decisions to be educated on their decisions in the local community and beyond. We have been given the fantastic opportunity to work with the virtual reality programme to advise pupils on the warning signs of gangs, the law relating to knife crime and carrying knifes and how to keep themselves and others safe. This will continue for pupils into next week.

The Department for Education requires us to deliver the statutory guidance for Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE). This, alongside other key areas such as RE, Citizenship and Careers, makes up our personal development curriculum which is delivered at all Key Stages through assemblies and form time activities. Details of our RSHE Policy can be found on our website. This content is now statutory and forms a key part of our provision at school.

Should you have any queries, please contact Miss Williamson in school. Thank you to West Midlands Police and Virtual Decisions for supporting our pupils with their decision making.
