At Bloxwich Academy, we have a Staff Wellbeing Group who meet at least twice each half term to discuss staff wellbeing. The team meet to discuss any current aspects of school life that are related to wellbeing and how these can be further improved to support colleagues at work. They also meet to discuss and plan staff wellbeing events that are put on over the course of the academic year, with the aim of providing a space and platform for staff to have time to invest in themselves away from their day to day teaching work. Recent examples of this have been events such as Nosecco and Paint, Staff Darts competition and staff breakfasts. We are proud of our proactive approach to staff wellbeing and we are grateful to the Staff Wellbeing Group, as a dedicated collection of professionals from different parts of the whole staff body, who have such a strong focus on wellbeing at Bloxwich Academy. This, in conjunction with our ongoing internal professional development, access to NPQs and being signed up to the DfE Staff Wellbeing Charter amongst other programmes and initiatives, are a clear indication of the importance we place on staff wellbeing.

In March we launched a Staff Praise button here at Bloxwich Secondary. This was to give staff the platform and opportunity to recognise the efforts and talents of their colleagues. There has been an overwhelming response to this new initiative, staff have engaged well and taken the time to ensure they acknowledge colleagues' efforts here at the Academy. There were just under 170 nominations in the first round and there are currently 110 in the second round with the deadline approaching.  

Amy Hodgkiss was the lucky winner of the random prize draw from all of the first-round nominations and received an extra £30 voucher! 

A huge well done and thank you to all the staff who were nominee’s or nominated. It was incredible to see all the lovely things written about each other and what goes in to making Bloxwich Academy a great environment to be a part of. A snapshot of the kind words and recognition is below...
