On a bright and sunny day, pupils from Bloxwich Academy set off for Carding Mill Valley, right in the heart of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With the Ashbrook River winding through its picturesque landscape, the valley provided the perfect outdoor classroom to bring geography to life.

Armed with tape measures, metre sticks, and plenty of enthusiasm, pupils became real geographers for the day. They investigated how rivers change as they flow downstream, applying the Bradshaw Model to this beautiful real-world setting.

At each site, pupils carefully measured the river’s width and depth, then sampled pebbles to record their size and shape using rulers and roundness charts. There was laughter, teamwork, and the occasional splash as they worked together to collect their data.

Their findings were clear: the river grew wider and deeper the further downstream they went, while the bedload became smaller and smoother. These results matched geographical theory perfectly – a proud moment for our young geographers, proving the Bradshaw Model in action.

It was a fantastic day filled with sunshine, curiosity, and hands-on learning. The pupils represented Bloxwich Academy brilliantly, showing not only their geographical skills but also their teamwork and resilience. A big well done to all!

On Friday 26th September, Bloxwich Academy held our annual break time cake sale for pupils. Our Community Champions worked hard to keep up with demand and we sold every single crumb. Bloxwich Academy want to say a big thank you to the pupils and parents for the kind donations. We would also like to thank staff for generously donating the cakes to sell. In total, with the parent Read Coffee and Cake morning and the cake sale, we raised £210.95. Thank you for donating towards this charitable cause.

This year’s Year 6 Open Evening was a wonderful celebration of everything that makes Bloxwich Academy such a special place to learn. The event gave prospective pupils and their families the chance to explore our school, meet staff and experience first-hand the excitement of life at Bloxwich.

Every department pulled out all the stops to showcase their very best. The Science department wowed visitors with spectacular hands-on experiments, from pupils holding real hearts to dramatic flame demonstrations that lit up the room. In Performing Arts, the stage came alive with performances that highlighted the incredible talent and confidence of our pupils. Over in English, families were invited to step into live lessons, offering a real taste of the engaging and inspiring teaching that takes place every day in all departments. 

We also highlighted the importance of extracurricular with the help of our Combined Cadet Force, who demonstrated a flight stimulator. 

Throughout the evening, our pupils shone as proud ambassadors of the school. From guiding families around the building to assisting in demonstrations, their enthusiasm and commitment were second to none. Many parents and carers commented on how impressed they were by the maturity, friendliness and passion of our pupils

It was truly a night to remember – a celebration of our community, our talent and our values. We are proud to have shared “the Best of Bloxwich” with our future families, and we look forward to welcoming the next generation of pupils into our Academy.

On Friday 26th September, Bloxwich Academy held a Macmillan Read, Coffee and Cake morning. We invited our year 7 parents to enjoy a session of reading with their child in our school library. Mrs Hibbs joined the event and read the first chapter of Marcus Rashford’s You are a Champion. Pupils then read to their parents and enjoyed a warm drink and a cake. It was a wonderful morning, full of discussion, reading, laughter and obviously delicious cake. Please continue to check back on our social media pages for future events.

On Monday 15th September Bloxwich Academy welcomed Daniel Caines a former Olympian, World Champion in the 400m and European Champion in the 4x 400m relay. He delivered an inspirational assembly and workshop for our year 11 pupils. Daniel shared his journey in the athletics world, starting at a young age, to the triumphant achievements he was able to secure. Daniels key message to our pupils focused on the journey to success, which inevitable can include setbacks. He spoke about the resilience needed to go beyond these setbacks to be able to achieve the ultimate goal. Daniel explained to our pupils that it was important to “dot the I’s and cross the T’s” and “sweat the small stuff” to be successful in your goals. We hope our pupils can look back on the outstanding and motivational assembly, reflecting on how they can overcome their own setbacks to work towards their own achievements linking to the school moto of “Be The Best You Can Be.” Thank you Daniel for taking the time to be an inspiration to both our pupils and the staff.

Our Success Centre students took a smash-tastic field trip to a Rage Room—and wow, did they let loose! Armed with bats, hammers, and plenty of giggles, they turned old breakables into a million sparkling pieces (all under the watchful eye of safety gear, of course).

It wasn’t just fun—it was epic. Smashing, crashing, and laughing their way through the session, our students discovered the joy of breaking things without getting in trouble for it.

At the end of our first full week, we celebrated the pupils with the highest total of positive points with tokens to our book vending machine!
