Year 11 Prom 2026

Friday 3rd July 2025 will hold memories for many of our Year 11 cohort. The prom got off to a glamourous start with glitzy cars, horses and beautiful outfits worn by all.

Pupils and staff danced the night away starting with the crowning of the Prom King and Queen, followed by a spectacular dance off between the staff and pupils. I think we can all agree that our very own Mr Jilali stole the show with "The Worm"

With celebrations, dancing and of course the rodeo bull, we will hold many magical memories of this evening.

We would like to thank everyone who made the night a memorable evening. Congratulations to our Year 11 cohort and we wish you all the success in the future. We are looking forward to seeing you on GCSE results day.

University of Birmingham Trip 2026

Today, 23 Year 10 students had the fantastic opportunity to visit the University of Birmingham as part of our ongoing programme to raise aspirations and explore future pathways.

The visit included a guided tour of the university campus, giving students a real insight into what studying at university is like. They also took part in a Q&A session with current university students, who shared their experiences, offered advice, and answered questions about university life.

Students attended informative sessions covering the university application process, student finance and funding opportunities, and the many benefits of higher education. They learned about the support available to students, the wide range of courses on offer, and the opportunities that university life can provide both academically and personally.

The day was an excellent opportunity for our students to explore their future options, gain a better understanding of higher education, and be inspired by current students who have successfully taken this next step in their educational journey.

We would like to thank the University of Birmingham for hosting such an informative and engaging visit. Our students represented the school brilliantly and gained valuable knowledge to support their future aspirations.

Team Building Day

Yesterday, our SSI team had the pleasure of delivering a Team Building Day for a small group of students from Bloxwich Primary School.

Despite the exceptionally high temperatures leading to the school closing earlier than planned, the students showed fantastic enthusiasm, resilience and teamwork throughout the activities. They embraced every challenge, developed new skills and demonstrated excellent attitudes from start to finish.

While we couldn't complete everything we had planned, the day was a great success, and we look forward to welcoming the group back in the future to complete the course.

A huge well done to all of the students for their effort and determination – we can't wait to see you again soon!

4Schools 2026

Over the past two days, we were delighted to welcome 4Schools into our school to deliver an exciting and engaging careers experience for our students.

All of our Year 7 pupils took part in a lively assembly and interactive “Have a Go” workshops, where they explored careers within the creative media sector, including TV, broadcasting and digital content creation. Students learnt about the wide range of roles involved, from idea creation and production to editing and advertising, and discovered how their own skills could link to future career opportunities.

Through hands-on activities, students even had the chance to plan and pitch their own TV-style content ideas, helping to build creativity, teamwork and confidence.

In addition, selected students in Years 8 and 9 participated in a Careers Quiz workshop, where they were introduced to the world of TV and broadcasting. This engaging session encouraged them to reflect on their own strengths and interests, while exploring potential career pathways and the different routes into the industry.

It has been a fantastic opportunity for our students to:

Gain insight into a fast-growing and exciting industry

Understand how classroom learning connects to real careers

Begin thinking about their own future aspirations

We would like to thank 4Schools for delivering such an inspiring and informative experience for our students.

Alison Cope

On Monday 8th June 2026, Year 6, 9 and 10 pupils had the opportunity to have an assembly delivered by Alison Cope. Alison is the mother of Joshua Ribera, who was murdered in 2013. Alison now works tirelessly to help prevent youth violence by campaigning and working with schools, sharing her sons’ story. Her mission is to educate others of the realities and consequences of youth violence and knife crime. Her particular focus, also discusses the dangers of social media and the footprint pupils are creating for themselves. Both staff and students were moved by Alison and her story.
