Our Primary Junior Leadership Team, alongside Friends of Bloxwich, proudly hosted a Macmillan Coffee Afternoon to raise money for the fantastic work of Macmillan Cancer Support. Parents and children enjoyed an afternoon of coffee, cake and conversation in the school hall, followed by a successful bake sale after school.

Bloxwich Academy Staff Darts tournament

The 2026 edition of the Bloxwich Academy Staff Darts tournament saw a larger field enter than the previous year. This made for some excitement in the early rounds and competitive fixtures right from the off. That said, there were some familiar names and faces making progress from round 1, and so A.Knight, C.Waterworth, R.Morris and A.Booth secured their place in the second round. Joining them were some new entrants in J.Danaher, E.Lake, D.Brindley and M. Grant-Patel.

There was a heavy PE department presence in the semi finals, and so sporting reputations remained firmly intact. It was only J.Danaher that could prevent a member of the PE team claiming the title but coming up against the pre-tournament favourite in A.Knight proved too big an obstacle on this occasion and so it was down to R.Morris, after his nail- biting win over C.Waterworth in the other semi-final to try and stop a back-to-back title procession occurring.

It wasn't to be. A.Knight putting in another commanding performance to take the final 3-0 and claim his second title in as many years and firmly lay down the marker for 2027. It will need a huge tournament performance to prevent a hat-trick of titles being acquired, but there is plenty of time to practice ahead of next summer!

A huge thank you to everyone who signed up and got involved, played it in the right spirit and contributed to another successful staff darts tournament.

Taking to the skies with 8 AEF!

This week, cadets from Wednesfield Academy CCF (RAF) and Bloxwich Academy CCF (RAF) had the fantastic opportunity to take to the skies with No. 8 Air Experience Flight at RAF Cosford.

On Tuesday 15 September, Wednesfield Academy cadets took their turn in the cockpit, followed by Bloxwich Academy on Wednesday 16 September.

For many of our cadets, this was their first experience of flying in a light aircraft and an opportunity to see aviation from a completely different perspective. Air Experience Flying is a key part of the RAF Section experience, giving young people the chance to develop their confidence, experience RAF aviation first-hand and, perhaps, inspire an interest in a future career in aviation.

A huge thank you to all the staff at 8 AEF, RAF Cosford for giving our cadets such a memorable experience, and well done to all of our cadets for representing their schools and the Matrix Academy Trust so positively. With Barr Beacon School, Dame Elizabeth Cadbury School with partnership school Turves Green Boys School flying on the next two Mondays and flying days now booked for Etone College in the coming term we look forward to see many more of our cadets experience flying.

CV Guidance Assembly

On Friday, our Year 11 students attended an informative assembly led by Kim Evans, our Careers and Enterprise Coordinator from Walsall College. Students gained valuable advice on how to create an effective CV and write a strong personal statement, helping them stand out when applying for college courses, apprenticeships, part-time jobs, and future career opportunities. A huge thank you to Kim for sharing her expertise and providing our students with practical guidance as they begin planning their next steps beyond Bloxwich Academy.

Past and Present

On Monday, the children had a wonderful time exploring what childhood was like in the past and discovering a range of fascinating artefacts. They enjoyed sharing their own toys and photographs during a special show-and-tell session, helping everyone learn about each other's childhood treasures.

The children also had great fun dressing up in their favourite childhood-inspired outfits, which added to the excitement of the day! Throughout the activities, they focused on understanding the difference between the past and the present, developing their historical knowledge in an engaging and memorable way.

It was a fantastic day filled with curiosity, learning, and fun. The children were enthusiastic, thoughtful, and thoroughly enjoyed stepping back in time! 😊✨
