Gold School Games Award

We are delighted to announce, Bloxwich Academy Primary have been awarded the ‘Gold School Games Mark’ award for the 2021-2022 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Some of our successful school sport achievements this year have included:

The KS2 Girls football team being unbeaten in all games played across the academic year!

Boys and girls winning football tournaments at Beacon primary school without losing a game!

An amazing turnout for both boys and girls’ football & rugby clubs increasing participation for all!

At Bloxwich Academy Primary we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of physical activity and school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our events possible. As a school, we are committed to using the School Games to try and engage those young people who haven’t previously been active or represented our school and to try and ensure that all our students have a positive experience and want to try out new activities beyond school too in our community. We believe in the power of physical activity and school sport as a school and give opportunities to those young people that need it most either as a participant, leader, official or volunteer.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas linked to the five School Games outcomes and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

Ms Shepherd would like to thank all the staff at Bloxwich Academy Primary for their dedication to teach outstanding PE lessons and taking their own time to offer a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. To all the parents and children for their hard work and efforts achieving this award – we couldn’t have done it without you! Special thanks go to Mr Baugh and Miss Machin for overseeing, organising and leading the PE throughout the year. Well done for all your hard work!

We look forward to applying once again in 2023!

to carry an A4 folder. They should ensure they have a fully equipped pencil case and carry their academy

unprepared for their school work.

Please see below a list of our uniform requirements that must be adhered to:

  • Black blazer with school badge
  • White polyester/cotton shirt
  • School Tie, displaying six stripes (house colours)
  • Black school trousers (NOT ‘skinny fit’ or ‘drainpipe’ style)

  • We do recommend this before purchasing new shoes as retailers sometimes have different ideas on what is seen as school footwear.

appropriate equipment, will face sanctions such as being placed in Reflection or detentions.

GCSE Results 2022

An amazing set of results for Year 11!

Through their continued hard work and dedication, we have seen an increased number of our pupils achieve top grades at GCSE.

We are delighted to report that our Year 11s have, on average, performed significantly better than any other year group in the history of the academy (within a formal exam season).  This is a massive achievement, especially considering the fact that schools across the country are still feeling the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

We could not be more proud of our pupils, the vast majority of which will be continuing their studies with us at post-16.    We have also seen a huge increase in the proportion of our pupils opting to study the most challenging A-levels within our successful and ever-growing Sixth Form.

Mr S. Martin, Deputy Headteacher, stated

I am absolutely delighted with the fantastic grades achieved by our pupils at Bloxwich Academy.  They have worked so hard throughout their time with us, and thoroughly deserve their success today.  I am incredibly proud of them all!

Mr A. Seager, Headteacher, stated

The brilliant results are a testament to the dedication and efforts of our pupils, parents and staff.  I am delighted to see that so many of our pupils have achieved the grades necessary to gain a place within our Sixth Form, and am certain that they will all continue to be the best that they can be!

Fantastic A Level Results

We are delighted to report another set of cracking results for Year 13!

Through their continued hard work and dedication, we have seen a significant number of our students achieve top grades at A-level.  We are delighted to report that our A-level average point score is above that which we achieved in 2019 (the last year of formal exams). This is a massive achievement, especially considering the fact that schools and colleges across the country are still feeling the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

We could not be more proud of our students, the vast majority of which will be going on to study engaging and challenging degree courses than will enable them to go on to lead successful lives.  Some examples of these courses include Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Law, Nursing and Computer Science. It is no exaggeration to say that every Year 13 student leaves us with a positive destination in place.

Mr S. Martin, Deputy Headteacher, stated

I am absolutely delighted with the fantastic grades achieved by our students at Bloxwich Academy.  They have worked so hard throughout their time with us, and thoroughly deserve their success today.  I am incredibly proud of them all!

Mr A. Seager, Headteacher, stated

The brilliant results are a testament to the dedication and efforts of our pupils, parents and staff.  I am delighted to see so many of our students go onto study at some of the best universities in the country.  I wish them every success in their next chapter of their lives, and continuing to be the best that they can be!

16 Books Before 16

‘16 before 16′ is our reading competition for all our pupils. It runs until the end of Year 11 or until our pupils have read their 16 books.

The increased difficulty and level of challenge in the new English GCSE means that students need to be fully prepared for what is now expected of them. The ’16 before 16’ initiative is designed to support and aid this preparation. Below is a list of books specially selected by our English Department as the ‘must read’ texts for young individuals. Your child is asked to read them before they finish their studies at Bloxwich Academy. If your child would like to participate in this competition they need to pick up a passbook from their English teacher or from the school library. The passbook is designed to allow them to complete a short review of each book and also to enable you to add your signature to verify that they have completed the text. House points will be awarded after each finished book and a prize and certificate will be issued when the competition has been completed and 16 pages of the passbook have been filled.

Pupils are encouraged to read at their own pace and to then show their English teacher their passbook after they have read each text in order to be awarded house points. Many of the texts are available to be booked out from the school library. There is no requirement for pupils to read the texts in a particular set order.
