Careers Fair 2019

This year the Matrix Academy Trust Annual Careers Fair was bigger than ever before, with over 80 visitors giving up their time to meet our pupils. During the fair, pupils were able to engage with a range of employers, universities, apprenticeship providers, colleges and training providers.

Visitors came from all over the country, with universities as far-reaching as Belfast, and the careers represented at the Fair spanned a variety of fields such as healthcare, engineering, construction, the forces, hairdressing, the police, technology, defence, funeral care and the civil service. Many visitors were from key employers that reflect the changing needs of the local labour market.

CCF Flying Experience

Twenty cadets from Bloxwich Academy Combined Cadet Force participated in their fly experience days at RAF Cosford in September.

The day consisted of learning basic parachute drills and how to escape the plane in the event of an emergency. This was further complemented with a 30-minute flight in a Grob G 115 tutor aircraft where the cadets were allowed to take control and fly the aircraft. Some of the cadets took the opportunity to perform some aerial stunts and manoeuvres to enhance the day’s experience.

Even though there were a couple of sick bags and grey faces I think everyone who flew had a great time.

GCSE Results 2019

Could Bloxwich academy be the most improved school again nationally, twice in 3 years?

Bloxwich Academy are celebrating a fantastic set of GCSE results. The progress pupils have made is outstanding, with many pupils achieving the top grades available. Our pupils have certainly embraced the academy’s ethos of being the best you can be.

We are over the moon with the progress our pupils have made.  These results truly reflect the hard work and commitment of our pupils, parents and staff. The fantastic results now echo the excellent behaviour, superb culture and ethos we have at Bloxwich Academy. We are looking forward to working with our pupils on their return to Sixth Form in September.

Dame Mo Brennan, Chief Executive of Matrix Academy Trust, said: “These results show what determination and hard work can achieve. Bloxwich was once one of the lowest-achieving schools in the country and now it is one of the most improved. Pupils, parents and staff should all be proud of what they have achieved. “

Best Ever A-Level Results

Students have surpassed all expectations with another record-breaking set of results. 42% of all entries were at the top grades of A*- B or equivalent. This has resulted in 40% of our students holding offers of places at prestigious Russell Group universities.

We are extremely proud of the fantastic outcomes and superb destinations our Year 13 students have achieved this summer. To see so many accessing one of the top universities in the country shows how far the academy has come. All credit to our staff and students who have worked extremely hard to reach these standards

A Night At The Musicals

After many hours of rehearsals, dedication and hard work, Bloxwich Academy students ranging from Year 7 through to Year 12 created a show that won’t be forgotten. Bloxwich’s first-ever Musical showcased snippets from The Greatest Showman, Annie, Chicago, Les Miserable, Matilda and Hairspray. Many pupils performed multiple roles and the evening was a huge success and everyone involved should be immensely proud of themselves.

We hope to see some of our students in the West End one day due to the confidence and professionalism that was shown throughout the three performances.

Prom 2019

On Thursday 11th July at the beautiful grounds of Calderfields Golf Club, staff eagerly awaited the arrival of our Year 11 Prom guests. Students spent the evening snapping photos, watching some fire breathing in awe and even getting a self portrait drawn by our very talented caricaturist.

Once the sun had gone down our Prom King and Queen were announced, that then led into a party to end all parties with our DJ. A great night was had by all and it will certainly be one to remember, especially the live version of leadership baby shark…
