The Secret Buddy Scheme is back for 2025/2026 at Bloxwich Secondary.
It is an opt in scheme where staff chose to be part of it rather than it being mandatory. It’s designed to uplift and help improve staff well-being by having a “buddy” to cheer them up over the course of the year with little gifts/notes/acts of kindness, to put a smile of their face. The secret part is that you don’t know who your buddy is. Staff fill in a questionnaire at the start of the process so that your buddy knows things about you like when your birthday is, what kinds of snacks you like, what makes you laugh and so on. It’s then up the buddy to decide how (and when) to inject little bits of cheer into their day.
Staff can then can be as imaginative as they want to be. Examples used previously are: snacks left on desks, birthday cards and cake on birthdays, Easter eggs given at Easter, a nice little something to enjoy over the 6 weeks holiday on the last day of term, but it doesn’t have to be elaborate, and it doesn’t have to be expensive. A little note wishing someone a lovely day can be a simple boost, and a reminder that people care.
We look forward to seeing and hearing about all the treats, gifts and pick me ups shared by staff across the upcoming academic year!
