Today, 10 of our Year 10 pupils had the fantastic opportunity to experience life at Oxford University!
Our day began at Oriel College, where pupils attended an insightful lecture delivered by Carys. She covered everything from what Oxbridge is, what a college system involves, where colleges are located, and the realities of student finance and accommodation.
We were then joined by three current first-year undergraduates, who led us on a guided tour of the beautiful Oriel College grounds, sharing their first-hand experiences of university life.
After the tour, we enjoyed a traditional meal in the college dining hall — a delicious beef dinner with roast potatoes, red cabbage, seasoned vegetables, and a generous slice of Eve’s pudding!
Following lunch, we returned to the lecture theatre where the undergraduates hosted a Q&A session, giving pupils the chance to ask questions about studying, social life, and living in halls.
In the afternoon, we took a walk through Oxford city centre and made our way to Keble College. Here, we were welcomed by three more first-year undergraduates — including one from our Matrix neighbours in Wednesfield — who showed us around the campus and answered more questions along the way.
A huge thank you to all of our student ambassadors and tour guides for giving their time and sharing their experiences. It was an inspiring and informative day for everyone involved!
