With the current hot weather, children, particularly older children, may look to go swimming in open water to cool down and have fun.  This comes with various risks – cold water shock, currents, hidden underwater dangers and diseases such as Weil’s disease. 46% of drownings occur in the summer months and this rises to 75% amongst 13 – 17-year olds. Educating children on these dangers is important in preventing tragic incidents. A group of year 3 and 4 children attended a SEND Table Cricket festival at West Walsall E-ACT Academy.  Table cricket is an adapted version of cricket, played on a table tennis table and specially designed to give young children (SEND) the chance to play and compete in the sport. This is a very strategic game! There are different scoring zones around the table and, just like in regular cricket, fielders have to be carefully positioned to prevent runs or to get the batter out. To celebrate the growth of Girls Football and to continue to show support, last Friday was the biggest ever football session #LetGirlsPlay Day. Lots of schools including Bloxwich tried to get as many girls playing football as possible. The year 6 girls really enjoyed getting involved, during their PE lesson and as part of their Good to be Green activities.
